I hope you're not expecting a tip when we get back to my room. [ Her hands spread out slightly against his chest, fingers drumming lightly against his sternum. ] I don't have any cash.

Well lucky for you, I work for free.

[He bites his lip, shifting her slightly as they walk. This has to be one of the stranger things he's done on the ship...but he actually feels pretty at home. Reminds him of stupid shit he'd do in high school.]

You don't want to say that too loudly; people might not realize you're talking about piggyback rides.

She grins a little but when he shifts her, October leans forward a bit, though it's impossible to catch his eye while on his back. ] If I get too heavy, just tell me. I promise I won't go psycho on you for calling me fat or whatever.

Dude, you're tiny. Besides, I'd be a weakling if I couldn't handle you.

[Really, despite being almost taller than him, she's a thin thing--easily carried.]

I'm just saying. [ Her chin moves to rest on his shoulder. ] But if you keep talking like that, I might have to make this a regular thing. ...minus the alcohol.

Hey now--

[He laughs.]

I'm not some sort of pack animal.

[ She grins. ] Okay, fine. But what if I break my leg?

Well that's different. That's me saving a damsel or whatever.

Hey! [ She reaches down to poke him in the side. ] I'm not a damsel in distress, broken bones or otherwise.

Ow!

[Alex laughs.]

Fine, I'll just leave you to crawl then, ms. not-damsel.

Or you could just help me and leave the damsel comments out.

Aww, but what fun is that?

Being a good guy and staying on my good side? [ It would take far more than that to get on her bad side, though. ]

Aww and I thought I always stay on your good side?

[He hits the lift, and bends down slightly.]

Hit the button for your floor, please.

There's always a first time for everything.

[ One arm stays wrapped around him while she reaches out with the opposite hand, hitting the button for her floor. ]

Yeah, well sometimes there is a never for things too. [He looks over his shoulder at her, smirking.]

[ Wrapping her arm around his neck again, October grins a little in return. ] Here's hoping that's the option we end up with.

[When the elevator reached the floor, he walks out, shifting her slightly.]

Got to keep you as my buddy, you know?

Your life would kinda suck without me. [ She gently nudges his head with her own. ]

It certainly would be a bit more boring.

[He chuckles, and really he agrees. He likes October, and since their last real argument, things have been good. It's rare for him to have a friend who was a girl, who he didn't get completely freaked out over.]

[ She smiles and settles her chin on his shoulder again. Though she's been here as long as she has, October only has a few close friends and if she's being honest, Alex is probably the closest. She has Jim, too, but she doesn't see him as often because he's always busy. ]

Same here, Alex.

[He nudges his head against hers gently, knowing they are getting close.]

Thanks for not giving up on me, October.

[ When her arms tighten around him this time, it's in a hug-like gesture (as much as it can be while she's getting a piggyback ride) than to keep herself from falling. ]

Thanks for having more to you than your asshole side.

[ She grins a little and moves a hand to ruffle his hair. Then, though sheer luck, she actually pays attention to where they are. ] This is me.

Just keep that a secret, hm?

[He laughs, and bends down slightly, loosening his hold on her legs.]

Well then, guess you got to get off the ride, now.

Cross my heart.

[ She slides off him easily enough, though she stumbles briefly when she hits the floor, hand grabbing hold of his arm to steady herself. ]
